Product Line Stack
The organized view of a product line’s content, in three layers: technology building blocks at the bottom, products in the middle, and bundles of customer needs at the top. Its key parts are seven: noun-based market segments, verb-based market segments, platform-levers, products-in-development, products-in-the-market, innovation charters, and technology building blocks. Platform-levers sit at the center; products on top; segments anchor the top; innovation charters run alongside; technology building blocks anchor the bottom. The Product Line Stack makes the line’s many-to-many relationships — technologies to products to customer needs — coherent and actionable. Add a timeline and it becomes the Product Line Stack Roadmap. Named in Chapter 3; anatomy defined in Chapter 4. Formerly the Multi-Product Stack.
